Time for a trip down south, to the U.S second-largest state, after Alaska. This one of a kind state is 268,820 square miles and is the southernmost part of the Great Plains. Lets take a trip to where they say EVERYTHING IS BIGGER!!! or better yet we know it as the Lone Star State.
WELCOME TO TEXAS
Here is my go to guide on things to do where they say Everything Is Bigger and Better!

The Lone Star State, has many stereotypes but in reality it’s not all just country music (though it really is). I am here to tell you my travel experience while I was visiting and trust me it was a damn good time.
My first time to Texas was the spring break of my freshmen year of college, which was years ago. I went to see one of my best friends, who went to Saint Edwards University, which is located in the State Capitol of Austin, Texas.

When I landed at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and I walked thru the terminal my first initial thought was “Wow I am actually here and this place is buzzing with people getting ready for South By Southwest”. I couldn’t wait to get to the St.Edwards to see my friend and get this spring break week started.

Though like any college freshmen when you go away on the BIG SPRING BREAK trip, you tend to do things you would never do at home. Well GUESS WHAT!! We drank A-LOT! but from what I remember, I did eat good food and visit some attractions in Austin.
Here is what I remember from my first trip to this state but not last.
Food every spring breaker needs to know how to cure a hangover:

- Torchy’s Tacos -1822 S Congress Ave, Austin,Texas
- Home Slice Pizza- 1415 S Congress Ave,Austin,Texas
- Hey Cupcake! -Austin,Texas
- Gourdough’s Big Fat Donuts- 1503 S 1st St, Austin, Texas
I know the list isn’t that long but my memory from that week was really fuzzy but it must be talked about. It’s the college experience.
Another thing I did that week was go to Austin’s famous Graffiti Park.

Graffiti Park is an area that has slabs of concrete walls, that is decorated with art work from different artists from all around Austin,Texas and tourist that visit as well.

Spring Break was wild & it came to a close, very quickly and I had to go home.
YEARS LATER
Like I said it wasn’t the last time Austin, Texas saw me. Years later me and my best friend Kennedy, had to come back. Why because my best friend that I came to visit freshmen year of college Kassandra, GOT MARRIED!!!
It was the week of March 5-10,2018. Kennedy traveled from Portland, Oregon and I traveled from Los Angeles, California to come to a wedding that is the biggest change in our lives. Our best friend got married, this means we’re all growing up. (IT’S WEIRD)

Before the wedding day Kennedy and I toured around the city.
First Stop
Kennedy and I went to the State Capitol Building, which is a sight to see. The park leading up to the stairs to the building is gorgeous, statues of Texas history and park benches all over the place just to sit and relax. It was very peaceful.
Fun Fact: The Texas State Capitol is 15 feet taller than the U.S Capitol building. Which makes it over 300 feet!

I always recommend going to the State Capitol building, you learn history about another state.
Second Stop

I couldn’t wait to take Kennedy to Graffiti Park. Kennedy fell in love with this place like I did. Though the art was different from the last time, I was there. Best part we got to experience it together.

After Graffiti Park, Kennedy really wanted to go to this little tiny store called The Glass Coffin. From my understanding walking around this store, it is a vampire themed and oddities shop that caters to the undead and lovers of Macabre. To say the least this store was VERY interesting .

The day ended on a positive note.Kennedy and I got to experience this town together and we loved every minute of it. We both hope to be back again in the future, for the music festival South By Southwest.
Now lets get to the Grand Finale:
March 9th,2018 Kassandra’s Wedding Day
Kennedy and I reminisced about our friendship with Kassandra over the years. We both knew that this time was coming but just not this soon. We formed a great friendship over the years.

It’s fun to see how we have grown up as individuals over the years and where our lives have taken us.
I now live in Saint Louis, Missouri chasing my dreams. Kassandra lives in Austin, Texas living a happily married life. And lastly Kennedy, relocated from Portland, Oregon back to the concrete jungle of our hometown Los Angeles, California, cultivating life.
Hope these stories made you laugh as much as they did for me
Happy Travels
