Keep It Weird

Get your bags packed, it’s time to take a trip to the vast lands of the Pacific Northwest. It’s known for the diverse landscape of forest, mountains, farms and beaches. This laid-back,hip, and friendly state is just keeping it weird one day at time.

My family and I ,pulled into the city really late at night so we didn’t get to experience much of  our “first” night since it was about 2am. Everyone had enough from being in the car and personalities clashed. We literally had a enough of sitting and were ready to rest up to explore the city in the morning.

After some well needed sleep we woke up refreshed and ready to conquer the city during the day. Touring around the city the first things I noticed was how clean the city is and how friendly everyone is.

First Stop

Breakfast at Portland’s favorite go to doughnut store Voodoo Doughnuts. This place is a cash only,counter-service bakeshop that serves creative colorful treats for the locals & tourist.

I waited in line to get these tasty doughnuts for about 30 minutes the line was going down the street. Waiting in this line gave me the indication that my family & I were recommend  a great place to try and oh it totally was worth the wait.

After having to wait about 30 mintues in line and eating my tasty treat. The family & I got back into the car and headed to our next stop.

Second Stop

Our second stop of the day during our Portland adventure was the International Rose Garden. This garden is located in Washington Park about 30-45 minutes outside of Portland,Oregon.

IMG_3760While visiting this garden, I took the time to learn about this place. I learned that there are over 10,000 rose bushes and about 650 varieties of roses. The roses bloom between the months of April-October and the peak of all the flowers in bloom in June.

Surrounding myself in the park with all the flowers was a wonderful experience. I had time to reflect and connect with nature. Even though I was at a rose garden they did have other flowers. I saw large  blue hydrangeas bushes, which took my breath away.

I’ve never seen a flower so blue in my life and honestly it was my favorite part about this entire visit at this garden.

With a long first full day in Portland, it was action packed and it was time to rest up for a second full day.

Second Day

The first day in the city was action packed. Though,it was time to pack up our backpacks , put on our hiking boots, and get into the car.  Taking a 45-minute drive to Oregon’s tallest waterfall, Multnomah Falls.

Hiking up to the falls-Oregon

The falls are very popular best time to visit before the crowd is first thing in the morning.

The hike up to the falls was pretty awesome. It takes about 30-60 minutes to explore the grounds, bring lots of water and snacks (you never know when you’ll get hungry or thirsty).

Hanging out in nature-Multnomah Falls

After hanging out at Multnomah Falls, for a few hours it was time to head back to the car and take a drive further into Mount Hood. Where I got a great view of the river that seperates Washington State and Oregon.

Unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to go into Washington and explore but that is defiantly on my list of places to travel to next.

Towards the end of day two we ended up back in the city at our hotel exhausted and ready to pack our bags again and head to our next destination in the morning.

Cannot wait to come back to Portland & explore more of what it has to offer.

Happy Travels
